1st Coronavirus Case detected in Manipur

Covid-19 enters Northeast India


The first Coronavirus case detected in Manipur, with this the Covid-19 entered the northeastern part of India.  A 23-year-old woman who returned from the United Kingdom testing positive, making it the first case in the northeast. She is a student in the UK.

The woman  has been put under isolation at the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences in capital Imphal. Her family members too have been quarantined. The family is being tested for coronavirus. Authorities are also tracing others who may have come in contact with the woman.

Meanwhile, After fresh cases were recorded in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and West Bengal the total number of cases are about to touch 500-mark, informed Health Ministry.

The virus outbreak has killed eight people so far.  Total number of active COVID19 cases so far in the country is 446, as on March 24. 37 cured/discharged/migrated cases and 9 deaths, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare informed.
