Assam: 15 Railway staff to be awarded on I-Day

Fifteen NF railway staff whose outstanding performance led to avoidance of train accidents will be awarded by the GM, NF. Railway on the occasion of the I-day.

Fifteen railway staff whose outstanding performance led to avoidance of train accidents during last few months will be awarded by the General Manager, NF. Railway Sanjive Roy on the occasion of the Independence Day.

On 14th June Dwarika Gupta, Track Maintainer, Ambassa station under Lumding Division noticed huge slipped earth and a big fallen tree between Manu and Jawaharnagar stations. He managed to stop the approaching passenger train thereby preventing major accident.

On 25th June Karan Das & Shri Robin Chandra Nath both Track Maintainers, Barpeta Road under Rangiya division detected hot axle in Goods train between Patiladaha and Sorbhog stations. They stopped the train by showing red signal and thus averted major accident.

On 5th July Rupak Nath Technician while performing rolling in examination of Awadh Assam Express at New Bongaigaon station detected one lever in hanging condition which was rubbing with axle. It was rectified immediately and an accident was averted.

Jay Ram, Sub-Inspector of RPF, Mariani under Tinsukia Division managed to quickly apprehend the culprits involved in heinous crimes which took place in trains on 10th and 11th July in Simalguri and Mariani stations.

Hari Prasad Roy, Loco Pilot & Keshav Kaushik, Sr.  Asst. Loco Pilot under Alipurduar Division while working train no 15417 on 18th July noticed one tractor with trolly on track between Tipkai  and Sapatgram stations . They immediately controlled and stopped the train and thus prevented collision.

Mithun Biswas, Track Maintainer, Abutara station under Alipurduar Division while performing duty in early morning of 25th July noticed one unusual object on track between Dinhata and Bamanhat stations.  Immediately he informed all concerned and stopped train movement. Later it was detected as a bomb, thus an accident was avoided.

Rupesh Roy & Kaushal Kumar both Track Maintainers at Barsoi under Katihar Division while performing Night Monsoon Patrolling duty detected heavy rain cut and rolling down of ballast between Sudhani and Barsoi stations. They immediately informed all concerned and stopped train movement thus preventing accident.

Randhi Linga Raju & Shri Bablu Kumar, both Track Maintainers of Aluabari station under Katihar Division while performing Night Monsoon Patrolling duty on 6th August detected Flash Butt Welding failure in track between Gaisal and Panjipara stations. They immediately informed all concerned and stopped train movement in time thus preventing any accident.

G. Iswar Rao, Technician under Tinsukia Division while examination of UP BOXN stock on 12.12.2017 detected one broken CBC Yoke which is not easily visible from outside. It was replaced and train parting avoided.
