Assam: All India Inter University Women Baseball Tournament kick starts in Royal Global University

First ever national level baseball tournament in Northeast

GUWAHATI-    The first ever All India Inter University Women Baseball Tournament in the Northeast region is organized by The Assam Royal Global University and it kickstarted on 6th January 2022 in the premises of the university. Teams from nineteen different universities across India participated in the tournament which will end on 10th January 2022.

Along with players and members from different universities, the inauguration function was attended by Assam Revenue and Disaster Management Department Principal Secretary Avinash Joshi, Commissioner of Guwahati Police Harmeet Singh, Chancellor of Royal Global University Dr. A K Pansari, RGU Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) SP Singh, Executive Vice President of RGU Ankur Pansari, RGU Registrar Dr. Diganta Munshi, students, and faculty members of the university.

For the smooth conduct of the tournament, Assam Baseball and Softball Association officials has been roped in for functioning as umpires and for other requirements of the tournament.

While addressing the players during the inauguration ceremony IAS officer Avinash Joshi said that if we learn sportsmanship, 50% success in life is achieved.

IPS officer Harmeet Singh welcomed all the participants from different universities and lauded RGU for organizing such an event. He said, “I thank the Vice Chancellor of the Royal Global University for bringing baseball to Guwahati.” He was narrating how baseball is an American game but only “cool” people in India used to play such game and now the game is also being played in Guwahati in a national platform.

It needs to be mentioned that in the tournament only Royal Global University participated from the northeast region.  Vice Chancellor of Royal Global University Prof. (Dr.) S P Singh said, “Holistic education cannot be completed without sports.”
