Assam: CM Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma attends 30th conference of Karbi Lammet Amei

Urges people belonging to Karbi community to be relentless in the practice of their language and culture

GUWAHATI-  Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma urged the people belonging to Karbi community to be relentless in the practice of their language and culture to be able to march forward in their journey towards prosperity.

Speaking at the open session of the 30th conference of Karbi Lammet Amei at Donkamukam in West Karbi Anglong today, Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said that towards the enrichment of Karbi literature, Karbi Lammet Amei has got immense role to play.

Dr. Sarma said that very rich in culture and folklore, the Karbi community is an invaluable asset for the state. Their language and culture have enriched the diversities of the state, as the government is committed to the development of Karbi language and culture, he said.

Karbi Lammet Amei is an important organization for the development of language and literature of the people belonging to Karbi community. This institution has been working untiringly for the progress of the Karbi people who are rich in every respect.

He also said that love for mother tongue leads the people to live with dignity by enriching and strengthening their identity. Karbi Lammet Amei gave a platform to the writers and litterateurs of the community to practice their language and literature.

The Chief Minister also said that inspired by litterateurs like Bong Long Terang, Kehai Bey, Longkam Teron, Rong Bong Terang, Samsing Hanse, Dhansing Engti etc., several young writers from the community have come out to serve Karbi language and literature.

The Chief Minister also said that the contributions of Karbi writers have immensely enriched the literature of Assam. Without diluting their own ethnic identity, these writers have paved way for relentless march of the Karbi literature while opening new avenues for cultural exchange, harmony and camaraderie.

He further urged Karbi lammet Amei to continue its unwavering efforts to promoting Karbi language and literature as the leading literary organization of the community.

While the President of Karbi Lammet Amei Sukursing Rongpi presided over the open session, Deputy Speaker of Assam Legislative Assembly Dr. Nomal Momin, President of Assam State unit of the BJP and MLA Bhabesh Kalita, Chief Executive Member Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council Tuliram Ronghang, MLAs Rupsing Teron, Bidyasing Englang and Dorsing Rohang were present among others on the occasion.
