Assam: Ensure last-mile delivery of schemes, DC Hailakandi tells tea garden managers

Hailakandi is the first district in Assam to pay wages to tea garden workers through individual bank accounts in December 2016. There are altogether 19 tea gardens in hailakandi district.

Deputy Commissioner , Keerthi Jalli appealed all the tea garden managers of Hailakandi district to join hands with the district administration in ensuring last-mile delivery of various schemes of Government of India under the National Food Security Act, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana etc.

In a meeting held at her office conference hall here on Monday, Jalli reiterated that it is in the interest of both the tea garden managements and administration to ensure last-mile delivery of the welfare oriented schemes.

“There is the imperative need for continuous follow-ups to ensure that last-mile issues are addressed and no beneficiary is left out”, she said.

The Deputy Commissioner asked the concerned departments not to work in silos and include the tea garden managers as field level monitors of schemes and programmes of the government.

The tea estate managers widely welcomed the participatory move of the district administration and assured of all support and assistance.

Additional Deputy Commissioner, EL Fairheim,  Chief Executive Officer, Zilla Parishad, NKSK Singha and other officials attended the meeting.
