Assam: Job Mela organised in Hailakandi

The Hailakandi District Mission Management Unit of Assam State Rural Livelihoods Mission organised a one-day district level Job Mela for unemployed youth at Nazrul Sadan premises in the district headquarters town of Hailakandi here on Saturday.

Scores of job seekers thronged the venue as soon as the job fair was thrown open.

As many as 10 recruiters from different companies took part in the event in which 45 candidates secured jobs.

Candidates possessing minimum qualifications starting from school drop-outs to matriculate, ITI diplomas, degrees, B.Tech and above were asked to participate in the mela to explore plenty of job opportunities.

The number of recruitment would have been much higher had the candidates brought the resume along with original testimonials and experience certificate. “In the advertisement in local dailies, we had asked the candidates to bring along with them their bio-data and other testimonials,” said an official, adding that the recruiters have asked the shortlisted candidates to submit their resume later.

Moreover, as many as 554 rural youth have enrolled in the Kaushal Panjee. As part of the ongoing Extended Gram Swaraj Abhiyan, Kaushal Melas have been organized in all the five development blocks across the district.

Under the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana, many poor rural youth have enrolled themselves for development and upgradation of skills for various avocations. After completion of mostly three-month training course, they are provided recruitment by the placement agencies in companies.
