Assam: Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan observes Swachhta Pakhwada in Hailakandi

Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) is spearheading the Swachhta Pakhwada, a fortnightly campaign that aims to spread awareness about the need and importance of cleanliness, in Hailakandi town.

The campaign that began from August 1 concludes on August 15.

On Sunday, NYKS and six other NGOs comprising 40 volunteers hit the streets in the wee hours and started the cleanliness drive, including the statues of the leaders of the freedom movement dotting the town, office premises, markets and other places.

A rally was also brought out to spread the message of cleanliness and make it a part of our lives.

Leading from the front, District Youth Coordinator, NYKS, Sekhar Ranjan Deb reminded that there are small steps everyone can do in order to spread the message of Swachhta to bring about perceptible and tangible change in their sphere of work, home and community. Deb thanked the organisations for taking part in the cleanliness drive.

The organisations that took part in the cleanliness drive were Native Pride Club, Matri Sankalpa Social Welfare Organisation, Amar Jyoti Club, Bibekananda Club, Kalinagar Yuvo Unnayan Club and Moon Light Club.
