Assam: Teachers’ Day observed in befitting manner in Hailakandi

57th Teachers’ Day was observed in a befitting manner across schools and educational institutions across Hailakandi , Assam.

Along with the rest of the country, the 57th Teachers’ Day coinciding with the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was observed in a befitting manner across schools and educational institutions across Hailakandi district.

At a main function held at Nazrul Sadan auditorium here today, District Development Commissioner, FR Laskar, while inaugurating the event by lighting the traditional lamp, said there’s no end to education and students must gather knowledge to enrich their lives and in nation building process. Laskar urged the teachers and students to help create a congenial atmosphere for the development of the state in particular and the country as a whole on various fronts.

Speaking on the occasion, Inspector of Schools, Rajiv Kumar Jha said teachers are the backbone of society and they help to mould the future of the students.

Former professor of Lala Higher Secondary School, Binoy Bhushan Nath, former professor of SS College, Hailakandi, Poritosh Chanda and others spoke on the occasion.

Altogether 33 meritorious teachers were presented with the district level award by the district administration. The highlight of today’s function was felicitation of Head Teacher of Narainpur Basic School, Jaya Das, who was awarded for exemplary bravery she displayed while warding off miscreants during the Measles Rubella vaccination campaign.
