In the wake of the growing threat from coronavirus ( COVID-19 ), the state of Assam will be under lockdown from 6 pm on March 24 to 31, said Himanta Biswa Sarma, Health Minister of Assam on Monday.
All the offices, educational institutions, private offices, industries will be shut. Domestic flights will be restricted but will not halt. Religious places should have a gathering of not more than three people.
Only essential services such as fire brigade, hospitals, district administration, pharmacy, grocery shops, etc. will remain open. The minister added that the state border will be sealed with no vehicles (except those in essential services) to be allowed.
People have been asked to stay home and help in preventing COVID-19 spread.
As of now, no COVID-19 positive cases have been reported in the state.
Meanwhile, minster visited all the govt hospital in Tezpur, Barpetta and Guwahati and discussed steps taken to prevent spread of Coronvirus.
