Master Poster of Assamese Feature  film “Aei Maatite” released

Guwahati

Angeekar  Films on Thursday launched the Master Poster of the first full-length Assamese feature film on witch hunting problem AEI MAATITE. Along with this, two more publicity posters were rolled out at a  function held at Guwahati Press Club. Students’ Federation Of India (Assam Unit) General Secretary Mr Nirangkush Nath, Director of the film Dr. Sitanath Lahkar and Famous Actress Ms Meena Ingti released the three posters. The film is releasing on 6th October 2017 in all major cinemas across Assam and North East.

The famous student politician Mr Nath has also acted in AEI MAATITE and it is his debut film.

All the three posters are designed by Mr Tapan Das. A Guwahati-based graphic designer, Mr Das has emphasised on the theme of AEI MAATITE for its publicity appearance.

Releasing the Master Poster, Mr Nath said  that “AEI MAATITE is not just a film. It is a struggle against witch hunting menace and a process to aware people about the affects of superstition.  I believes that unless the students community comes out, it is very difficult to eliminate social evils like witch hunting.”

The movie, made under the banner of ANGEEKAR Films, is directed by independent filmmaker and eminent theatre personality Dr. Lahkar and it is an adaptation of his famous stage play TAMASAA on the burning problem of witch hunting. The Story, Screenplay, Dialogues and Lyrics have also been penned by Dr. Lahkar, a retired Principal of Cotton College.

Commenting on the Master Poster launch, Dr Lahkar said: “We are gradually, step-by-step approaching the Big Day of releasing the film on 6th October. This Master Poster is a step closer to that direction. I am thankful to SFI for its support to AEI MAATITE and to our endeavour for awareness against witch hunting problem.”

The ‘action-drama’ film has some very critical scenes, shooting of which were done with utmost care and precision. Such type of rustic action scenes are hardly seen in Assamese films. The film cinematically showcases some of the inhuman killings in the name of witch hunting.

ANGEEKAR Films received the clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification (Censor Board) for AEI MAATITE with a U/A certificate.

AEI MAATITE mainly talks about the witch hunting problem in Assam and how a section of people are using witchcraft for their own interest. The film has a very strong message against witch hunting, upholding the value of scientific temperament and human life. Witch hunting has no reason at all and is shrouded with darkness of superstition, which is to be overcome by the society itself – this is the say of the film.
