A video of wild animal hunting in Arunachal Pradesh, is goes viral on social media. This video has been shot in Shimong village of upper Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh. It can be seen in the video that people are watching wild animals and birds being bought and sold.

However, this is a local tradition and a part of “Uneven Aran Festival” to kill animals. “Unying Aran Festival” is basically a “Hunting Festival” which is celebrated here by Adi Tribe as the first festival of ‘New Year’. During the festival, the local people celebrate the hunting of animals for a community feast.

Some of the animals appearing in the video include rat, civet, mangoes, barking deer, flying squirrels, Khaleej pheasants and red pheasants. Incidentally, pheasants and flying squirrels are endangered species, which are found only in Andaman and Nicobar and Arunachal Pradesh.

As the video became viral in social media, people are opposing this tradition of animal hunting. People saying that even if it is a tradition it should be stopped as soon as possible. In the name of tradition, we cannot destroy the precious wild creatures, saying people in social media.
