Assam: 63rd Railway week Awards Ceremony held in NF Railway

The 63rd Railway Week (Zonal Level) Awards Ceremony of NF Railway was held at Rang Bhawan in Maligaon, Assam on Thursday. This celebration is also held throughout the country to mark the anniversary of running of the first passenger train in India from Bori  Bunder in Mumbai to Thane – a distance of 34 km – on 16th April 1853.

Sanjive Roy, General Manager, NF Railway and Nilesh Kishore Prasad, General Manager (Construction), NF Railway gave away awards to achievers from various departments of the five divisions and headquarters of N. F Railway and NF Railway Constructions Organization.

Altogether 131 individual awards, 15 Group Awards, 36 Efficiency Shields were distributed for outstanding performance during last year.

The Railway Week Awards have been instituted to recognize the efforts and endeavour of railway employees in efficient and dedicated discharge of their duties.

In his speech, General Manager, NF Railway Sanjive Roy, General Manager, NF Railway highlighted the very important role being played by NF Railway for overall economic development of the entire NE Region. He also appreciated the hard work being done by its employees in this regard.

During the last financial year 60.57 kms of track has been commissioned by flagging off of train, CRS inspection has been completed in 25.44 km and engine rolling has been done in 27.35 kms of track. The total outlay for projects in Assam and Northeast for the current financial year has been increased to Rs. 5,866 crs. Presently 43 projects are going on in N.E. Region at a total cost of Rs. 89,601 crs.

 During the year 2017-18, 19 pairs of new train services have been introduced and services of 7 trains were extended in N.F.Railway. 66 special trains were also run during this period. New Goods terminals have been opened at 21 stations for ease of loading / un-loading. Originating passenger traffic increased by 0.7%, during 2017-18.

The Alipurduar Jn Station of Alipurduar Division was adjudged the Best Kept Station for the year 2017-18.

The New Jalpaiguri Railway Hospital won the Best Kept Hospital award and New Guwahati Running Room won the best maintained running room award for the year 2017-18.

For Construction wing, Deputy Chief Engineer/ Construction/New Jalpaiguri got the winner’s shield for Civil Engineering while Deputy Chief Signal & Telecommunication Engineer/ Construction/ Alipurduar Jn got it for Signal & Telecommunication work.

The overall Efficiency Shield for all-round performances during last financial year went to Tinsukia Division of NF Railway.
