Assam: ABSU celebrates Death Anniversary of Swmbla Basumatary as Anti-Terrorism Day

The All Bodo Student’s Union  ( ABSU )  celebrates 22nd Death Anniversary of Swmbla Basumatary as Anti-Terrorism Day on 30th July, 2018.  ABSU pay homage to the Heavenly Soul of Swmbla Basumatry on his 22nd death anniversary.

On this occasion  ABSU, vowed to build an illegal weapon and violence free society and bring an awareness among the masses on the impact of Terrorism from the year 1996.

The  event is observed with the Open Session on the Theme ” New Face of Terrorism versus path to peaceful Society”

Addressing his keynote address ASBU president Promod Boro said that  “Bodo is small group in the world, it has been struggling for survival since couple of decades. But during and after the struggle community has witnessed many incidences inside and outside the community which is worth informing to the people of the world. Among different problem being face by the community the most vital one is terrorism in different form”.

It takes away the normalcy in family, society, region, nation and some time in world. So, the then leadership of ABSU decided to observe the death anniversary of Swmbla Basumatary who was a most democratic and dynamic leader as president of ABSU. Because the amount of the pain and losses of his sudden death (Killed) could not fulfilled by any one, said Promod .

He said that ” ABSU believes in democracy and non-violence, so the union never believe that the killing of some individual as a part of solution of any problem. The new face of violence and terrorism in the name of intolerance and fascism in the country is always condemned by ABSU. Signifying this day appeal all the fellow citizens to refrain from violence and all forms of terror to give peace a chance for better human survival with dignity’ .

Pramod  opined the concept of terrorism has changing elements and the Bodo society has experienced all stages and forms of terrorism. The time has come to explore better and affirmative message has to be sent out to establish democratic non violent society spreading awareness against the terrorism. This age of IT enabled scope for terror is a challenging way out to escape terrorism from the forms of violence, corruption, and Political tyranny. Bodo people have to remain peaceful democratic to resolve the pending issues of Bodos with challenging intellectual diplomatic process in the country.

The open discussion was inaugurated by Mr. Rwn Gwra Narzary, MCLA BTC & Former President ABSU, in his speech he stressed about rooting out the new face of technology enabled terrorism and appeal the youth of the present times to avoid all forms of anti social activities, which has become the element of the terrorism of the day. Play the role of the anti- terrorism the concept must be understood by the new generations.
