Assam: Biggest spike in COVID-19 with 60 cases, tally reaches 319

Guwahati-   Assam witnessed the biggest single-day spike in Covid-19 cases with 60 people testing positive on Saturday, taking the infection tally to 319, Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said in a series of tweet.

Out of the fresh cases, 51 were reported from Sarusajai quarantine center in Guwahati, 7 from Dima Hasao district and 2 from cachar, he said.

Alert ~ Fifty three new #COVID19 + cases confirmed – 44 from Sarusajai Quarantine Centre, 7 from Dima Hasao district and 2 from Cachar, the minister said in a tweet in the evening.

Earlier in the day, Sarma said Seven people are found to be #COVID19 +. 6 of them are from Hojai but are in Sarusajai quarantine centre. One is from Dhubri but in quarantine.

Assam now has 258  active cases, while 54 people have been discharged from hospitals after being cured. The state has recorded four fatalities due to the contagion, and three has been migrated to other state.
