Assam: JFA mourns demise of scribe Arnab J. Deka

Guwahati: Journalists’ Forum Assam (JFA) expressed grief over the sudden demise of scribe Arnab J. Deka on the night of 20 August 2020 in the GNRC hospital. Arnab, 21, who worked for a news portal, faced an accident at Kamarpara near Sarthebari town while returning from Barpeta on 16 August. The young reporter was initially admitted to a local hospital and later shifted to the city. He was also involved with various other Sarthebari based social organizations.
“Arnab J. Deka becomes the fourteenth Assam based media person, whom we have lost during the Covid-19 pandemic,” said JFA president Rupam Barua and secretary Nava Thakuria adding that earlier television scribe Mridul Baruah, veteran journalists Bijay Prakash Barua, Prakash Kr Jha, printer-publisher Rantu Das, journalists Ripul Kalita, Manik Sarma, Pijush Kanti Das, Mozahedul Haque, Padmeswar Chitrakar, Bhaskar Dutta, Pranjal Hazarika died due to various ailments.
Another young digital scribe Dimpi Kashyap died in a road accident inside the city as the nationwide lockdown came to exist in March, whereas Tinsukia based scribe Bijendeep Tanti was found dead at his office few weeks back. A representative of private channel NewsTimeAssam, Bijendeep also ran a facebook portal named DinPratidinNortheast. The police have recently arrested the prime accused in the murder case.
