The NCC Cadets of North eastern region Directorate were given a rousing welcome at Kamakhya Railway Station who were crowned undisputed R-day Camp Champions.

The environment of Kamakhya railway station was ignited as they alighted from NE Express and slogans of “WELCOME BACK RDC CHAMPIONS” reverberated the air of Guwahati.  Truly living upto the NCC motto of Unity and Discipline, the North Eastern Region Directorate NCC Cadets stood  together in their victory march leading them to the “NUMERO UNO” slot for  the first time ever in the epoch making history of North East Region.

It was truly a glorious chapter unfolding in the Annals of history as the cadets stole the limelight in Republic day Camp by bagging trophies in the PM’s rally, Guard of Honour, Flag Area and National Integration Awareness presentation(NIAP).

Ably led by Col Jatinder Singh,SC, the cadets who rose to the occasion to make this improbable achievement possible  included Cdt Pathaw who was adjudged as the Best stick orderly,  Cdt Abhishek Pandey who was declared Best Guard Commander of the PM’s  rally besides Cdt Subrata being awarded second Best MC  apart from Cdt Raj Chetri who was adjudged runners up in Best Cadet Competition. In the equestrian events, SUO Dickjyoti won bronze medal in dressage veterans, Sgt Keerthi was runners up in dressage novice apart from Cdt Angad Singh who won a commendation medal in dressage novice Boys event.

Never before in the history of North east Region NCC that many awards were ever won by any contingent nor was any contingent adjudged best overall in Republic Day Camp out of 17 contingents from all over India.

The Cadets from remote and rural areas were groomed, trained and mentored by dedicated instructors from the Army, Navy and Airforce under Brig DB Pany, Chief training Officer and  overall leadership of Maj Gen Bipin Bakshi, ADG NCC NER Dte. The Cadets underwent an exacting selection procedure and only 118 of them finally made it to the elusive  Republic Day Contingent.

Speaking on the occasion,  Brig AK Borah,  said that  such imposing performance  could  only be made possible  due to the consistent efforts of  NCC Cadets  and  the vision of Major General Bipin Bakshi, ADG NCC, NER Directorate who galvanised the soul and spirit of NER Directorate to climb the unparallel pinnacles of glory.

A glittering felicitation ceremony for the RDC cadets awaits at Raj Bhawan ahead to honour their dazzling display  during Republic Day Camp.
