Assam: No Act East Policy actually exists, says NEDFi Chairman

GUWAHATI-    “No Act East Policy actually exists”, stated Mr. B Paul Muktieh, Chairman and Managing Director of Northeastern Development Finance Corporation Ltd (NEDFi),  while interacting  with the students and Faculty of Royal Global University ( RGU ) during a webinar.

Mr Muktieh   said,  A policy must be written with all the important details. What exists, are only the statements of intend given by various ministers. The actual is absent.”

RGU has organised this webinar on “Act East Policy and the Northeast” highlighting the various aspects such as access towards the existing infrastructure in the region, identifying the infrastructure gap between the physical connectivity, social and the market infrastructure in the region, and covering the overall economic development of the State.

Chairman and Managing Director of Northeastern Development Finance Corporation Ltd (NEDFi), Mr. B Paul Muktieh was the guest speaker, and the webinar was attended by Vice Chancellor of the University Prof. (Dr.) SP Singh, Chairperson (Academic) of the university, Prof. A.K. Buragohain among other senior professors, faculty, and students.

Speaking during the webinar, Prof. (Dr.) SP Singh said, “We need to initiate more conversation, and we need to focus on developing more research or documentation centers to study various aspects of the Act East Policy. Royal Global University has started taking the first steps towards this initiative.”
