Assam: One succumbs to COVID-19 in Hailakandi; positive cases cross 100 mark

HAILAKANDI-  COVID-19 claimed its first victim in the second wave in South Assam’s Hailakandi district.


Pappu Nath, a 26 year old youth from Katlicherra  was admitted on April 22 with alleged history of ingestion of unknown substance. He was found

COVID positive under RAT on admission. The patient had aspiration pneumonitis and had sepsis with AKI and required vasopressors. His condition deteriorated with passage of time and he expired on Friday at around 5.15 pm.

Meanwhile, 23 fresh COVID-19 cases were reported in the last 24 hours, pushing the coronavirus tally in the district to 3,524.

With these new cases, the district has altogether 103 active COVID-19 cases while 3,397 patients have been discharged. 24 patients are presently undergoing treatment at SK Roy Civil Hospital, two at Silchar Medical College and Hospital, 74 kept under home isolation and three in other districts.

Altogether 1,80,,437 samples for COVID-19 have been tested so far, including 1230 samples taken in the last 24 hours. Results of 498 samples are awaited from SMC&H..

Health authorities here revealed that contact tracing of 684 persons was carried out in the last one month and 32 were found positive, including six on Saturday.
