CAA Violence in Delhi:  Cop, Civilian Killed

Meanwhile Section 144 has been imposed at ten locations in North East Delhi media report said.

A cop and a civilian killed in clashes in parts of northeast Delhi between supporters and opponents of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA ) on Monday. The Delhi police announced that a head constable died in the Maujpur violence . The violence that engulfed the capital has also claimed the life of a civilian,  media reports have confirmed.

Meanwhile Section 144 has been imposed at ten locations in North East Delhi media report said. Entry and exit gates of Jaffrabad, Maujpur-Babarpur, Gokulpuri, Johri Enclave, Shiv Vihar, Jaffrabad, Maujpur-Babarpur, Udyog Bhawan, Patel Chowk, Central Secretariat and Janpath have been closed, the DMRC tweeted.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday urged Union Home Minister Amit Shah to restore law and order after incidents of violence in the national capital’s Jaffrabad and Maujpur areas.

“Very distressing news regarding disturbance of peace and harmony in parts of Delhi coming in. I sincerely urge Honorable LG and Union Home Minister (Amit Shah) to restore law and order n ensure that peace and harmony is maintained. Nobody should be allowed to orchestrate flagrations,” Kejriwal tweeted.

Meanwhile, former Congress president Rahul Gandhi said he was disturbed by the violence in Delhi. “The violence today in Delhi is disturbing and must be unequivocally condemned. Peaceful protests are a sign of a healthy democracy, but violence can never be justified. I urge the citizens of Delhi to show restraint, compassion and understanding no matter what the provocation,” Rahul Gandhi said in a tweet.
