Corona Crisis: 16000 People reached their home via ASTC transport

OLA, UBER and private operators suspended their service


Where private public transport/ taxi / OLA,  UBER etc have decided not to operate vehicles in light of the CORONAVIRUS  pandemic, Assam State transport corporation ( ASTC ) has provided relief to all those who came from various part of country and wanted to reach their home safely, informed Anand Prakash Tiwari, MD, ASTC.

He inform that ” ASCT  has given more than 500 buses covering various airports and railway stations to provide transport for people comming from outside since the last three days to avoid any public  inconveniences and disorder at the airport and railway station.

“We have received passengers from a total of 20 trains and approx 160 flights till that time and have assisted approximately 16000 people who have arrived through air and 12000 who people have arrived via rail to various airports and railway stations throughout the state” informed Tiwari.

“We have received them from Guwahati and provided them transport to Barak Vally , Agartala , Shilong , karbi Anglong , Central Assam , North Assam , Upper Assam and Lower Assam” he informed .

“It must be mentioned here that at each railway station and at each airport passengers were received after proper medical check-up and other due formalities, the passengers being sent to their respective places after medical check-up” informed ASTC MD.

ASTC staff all over the state have provided day and night both services to ensure zero inconvenience to the people . Despite knowing that trains are coming from Maharastra, Karnataka, Kerala , Delhi etc they took all the care and precautions and did their duty with high morale.
