In the wake of the growing threat from coronavirus ( COVID-19 ), the Mizoram Government on Saturday ordered a “partial lockdown” across all districts of the state till March 29, according to a notification.
A notification to this effect was issued by the General Administration Department late tonight signed by the Chief Secretary Pu Lalnunmawia Chuaungo.
According to the notification, all shops and business establishments barring pharmacies and shops selling essential commodities will remain closed during the lockdown period.
All public transport services (buses, taxis, mini-vans, sumos and others) and private vehicles will be off the roads during this period.
Ambulances, Fire & Emergency Services vehicles, vehicles for upkeep of law and order purposes, vehicles of accredited journalists and electronic media, vehicles of government servants/people/personnel engaged in any aspect of COVID-19 prevention and mitigation, vehicles carrying essential commodities and ferrying people related to essential services and vehicles ferrying government servants/personnel for providing public services will be exempted.
Movement of all people except those concerned with essential commodities and providing essential services and medical personnel is prohibited.
All inter-state and international entry/exit points/stations will be closed during this period. Vehicles carrying essential commodities into Mizoram and vehicles/ambulances on medical emergencies will be however exempt.
