Manipur: Covid Vaccination Drive by Assam Rifles, is a Janseva Abhiyan

IMPHAL The resurgence of Covid-19 pandemic has claimed more than 2.5 million lives globally. The pandemic has impacted people from all walks of life. Affecting global economies, changing the way we work and interact with our loved ones and stretching healthcare systems to extreme limits. Worldwide the healthcare system has been over stretched.
Hence, Governments around the world have been forced to implement harsh social distancing & lockdown measures to curb the spread of the deadly virus. The vaccination is showing a way to transition out of this phase of the pandemic. Equitable access to safe and effective vaccines is critical in our fight against COVID-19. After the successful implementation of initial two phases of vaccination. Now we are moving towards third phase of vaccination to provide dose to population in age gp 18-44 years of age.
To strengthen the battle against the COVID-19 pandemic and facilitate access to the nationwide “Third Phase of Vaccination Drive”, every effort is being made to roll out vaccination smoothly. 44 Assam Rifles under the aegis of 22 Sect AR/ IGAR(E) has taken an unique initiative alongwith Tamenglong district health officials to expedite the vaccination for local populace. The unit has undertaken the responsibility of establishing COVID Vaccination Center for Tamenglong. Presently There are only four such centers including the 44 Assam Rifles vaccination center. The unit medical staff with assistance from CMO & DIO, Tamenglong started the third phase of vaccination for local population as a “JANSEVA ABHIYAN” to assist the local civil administration to curb the spread of deadly virus and taking a step towards wellbeing of human life. This is one of the first of its kind of initiative and service extended by Assam Rifles in entire Manipur State.
The third phase of immunization started with felicitation of COVID WARRIORS, the Staff Nurses who are engaged in the COVID immunization drive. They are often the first and sometimes the only health professional that people see in far flung areas. These silent warriors have been serving humanity with compassion, optimism, kindness, selfless dedication to duty and unparalleled devotion. It is a moment to recognise their hard work to serve and inspire humanity.
On this occasion Commandant, Tamenglong battalion said that their dedicated service to humanity has helped to tackle first wave of COVID last year and certainly shall prove to be an important pillar during this wave too. The nurses have proved to be the lifeline of India’s fight against this invisible enemy.
He urged the public that in present scenario even after vaccination we need to flow strict behavioural measures for the foreseeable future. And stressed upon the slogan Dawai Bhi aur Kadai Bhi. He said that it’s a proud moment for Assam Rifles as Friends of Northeast People to take responsibility and provide assistance to the local civil administration in this noble cause. He also requested people to come forward for the vaccination to achieve the ultimate aim of Together we can defeat the pandemic.
The self registration for third phase of vaccination opened on 22 May and within 20 mins it was fully subscribed. On first day of Immunization Campaign organised by the battalion on 26 May 2021, the medical staff of the battalion administrated vaccination to 100 peoples. Alongwith vaccination drive the battalion organised COVID awareness campaign too in the town. Various posters, banners, cut outs and information boards were displayed for the general public. The yeoman service provided by the volunteers who are spreading the COVID awareness in far flung areas requires a big salute as these angles are serving the humanity.
Today Ms Sharon R Panmei, a 18 years old girl from Guigailong, Tamenglong was the youngest beneficiary of the vaccination drive. The enthusiasm and spirit of this young girl to get vaccinated too was felicitated by the Unit. She shall motivate other youngesters from area to get themselves vaccinated.
The 44 Assam Rifles Covid Vaccination Centre shall administer covid vaccination on every Wednesday. The registration for the same shall be open on every Saturday. A review on frequency of vaccination days shall be taken based upon the response to registration by the public. People are requested to do self registration on the portal and shall be vaccinated only after confirmed registration.
The unit is committed to work hand in hand with the local civil administration, CMO, DIO to battle the pandemic until all precious lives of the citizens in Tamenglong district is secured. Sustainable health goals can be achieved by contribution of all people led by COVID warriors and frontline workers.
