Manipur: Impressive band display by Indian Army to pay tribute to the covid warriors in Imphal

IMPHAL-   The  Red shield Division of Spear Corps organised a pipe band display at Bhagya Chandra Open Air Theatre, to pay tribute to the covid warriors in Imphal on 21 Jan 2021. The performance was intended to display gratitude and deep appreciation towards COVID warriors who have been steadfast in fighting the spread of the pandemic even at the risk of their own lives.

Five Pipe bands of Red Shield Division of Spear Corps played martial and patriotic tunes which left the audience spellbound. The doctors, nurses and other civilian staff who are the frontline workers attended the event in large numbers keeping in mind the COVID protocols. COVID warriors from the Armed Forces also attended the event.

The event was graced by Dr Rajesh Kumar, Chief Secretary of Manipur  as the Chief Guest and Maj Gen VT Mathew, GOC Red Shield Division. The event was also attended by senior military officers, civil dignitaries and veteran of Indian Army including Lt Gen(Retired) KH Singh and Lt Gen (Retired) LN Singh.

Thanking the COVID Warriors for their selfless services, Dr Rajesh Kumar praised the contribution of Doctors, Nurses, Para Medical Staff and other frontline workers who did not care for their safety in their bid to save others.  He also lauded pipe bands of Indian Army for an impressive band display to honour the COVID warriors. He expressed satisfaction and confidence on the success of ongoing COVID vaccination campaign.

Maj Gen VT Mathew, GOC Red Shield Division in his vote of thanks address expressed gratitude to all the COVID warriors for their heroic efforts and commended pipe bands for  an invigorating martial and folk tunes. The event culminated with the pipe bands playing National Anthem.
