Manipur: Van Mahotsav observed by residents of langching village
The villagers organised plantation drive by planting saplings in and around the village.

IMPHAL: The residents of Langching Village, Chandel District in Manipur joins the nation in observing “VAN MAHOTSAV “ at the village today, 02 july 2021. The villagers organised plantation drive by planting saplings in and around the village.
The enthusiastic villagers took part in the event duly following all covid protocols and planted about 1000 tree saplings. The event was organised by the Village authority with assistance from the District administration and the village youth organisation, LYGSEDA.
The villagers vowed to safeguard the nature and each household also planted a sapling with the promise to take care of the same. Different varieties of tree saplings were planted along the road and also various common places in the village.
Speaking on the occasion, the Secretary of the Villlage authority, Mr Mangboi mentioned that, the locals are now aware about the dangers of deforestation and the impact on the civilisation, hence the villagers unanimously pledge to plant more trees to preserve the nature which is also in consonance with the teaching of the Bible.
He further stated that, the village authority had taken a decision to continue the plantation drive in the future also so that the village can be one of the examples for preservation of nature in the area. The plantation drive today was attended by the most aged person and also the young ones.
The village Chief or the Gaon Bura, Mr Yangkholun Lenthang exhorted the youth to take care of the environment and promise to provide all assistance for such a noble work. The event was followed by Vaccination camp for the whole village undertaken with assistance from District Health authorities.
