Meghalaya- BSF busts huge consignment of Smartphone at Bangladesh border

SHILLONG-   Acting on a specific  information, the BSF on Wednesday  busted a huge consignment of Smartphone which were to be smuggled from India to Bangladesh. Prima facie, the smartphones were not brand new and probably stolen from other location, inform U K Nayal, DIG/PRO BSF.

According to source, Troops of 30 Bn BSF launched a special ambush in border area of BOP Naljuri, under West Jaintia Hills to curb smuggling activities. The ambush party observed movements of miscreants with head loads moving towards international Boundary.

Immediately, party challenged the miscreants but they managed to escape leaving behind their head loads. Searching the area, BSF troops recovered 87 nos of Smartphones. The market price of confiscated mobiles has been assessed as Rs. 9,17,000/-. Source sai.

U K Nayal, DIG/PRO said, “In the past, there are similar seizure of huge mobile phones from this area. It appears that a syndicate involved in this illegal activities is operating in the area and efforts are on the bust the syndicate.”
