Mizoram reports highest single-day spike of 1,846 Covid-19 cases
The death toll rose to 302 as one more person has succumbed to the infection.

AIZAWL- Mizoram on Tuesday reported the highest ever spike for a single day as 1,846 people, including 324 children, have tested positive for covid-19 infection. The state’s total tally now stands at 90,539, a health official said.

The single-day infection rate dipped to 19.44 per cent from 31.77 per cent on the previous day as the fresh cases were detected from 9,494 sample tests.
The fresh cases were reported from various districts with Aizawl district reporting the highest at 1,082, followed by Siaha at 348 and Lunglei at 119, he said.
At least 324 children and 3 personnel of security forces were among the newly infected people, he said.
Three patients have travel history while the rest 1,843 were found to have contracted the disease locally, he said.
At least 995 patients have developed symptoms of Covid-19, he added.
Mizoram now has 15,843 active cases, while 74,394 people have recovered from the infection, including 1,481 on Monday.
The recovery rate among Covid-19 patients is 82.16 per cent and the death rate is 0.32 per cent.
The state has conducted more than 10.8 lakh sample tests for Covid-19 till date.
According to state immunisation officer Dr. Lalzawmi, over 6.77 lakh people have been vaccinated till Monday, of which 4.21 lakh people have received full doses.
