Passenger train service between Manipur and Assam flagged off by CM Manipur and Minister of State of Railways

Passenger train service which has been re-introduced today between Jiribam of Manipur and Silchar of Assam having no. 05659/05660 will fulfill long standing requirement of the people of Manipur.

IMPHAL:  To provide better rail connectivity to the people of Manipur, a passenger train service was flagged off today by  Chief Minister of Manipur , N Biren Singh and Raosaheb Patil Danve, Minister of State of Railways, Coal & Mine.

Passenger train service which has been re-introduced today between Jiribam of Manipur and Silchar of Assam having no. 05659/05660 will fulfill long standing requirement of the people of Manipur.

The flagging off programme was held remotely through video link from Imphal. State Ministers, MPs, MLAs and senior officials from Railways and State Govt. of Manipur were also present.

Chief Minister of Manipur conveyed through his address, his keen interest in development of railway infrastructure for the benefit of people of Manipur.

In his speech, Minister of State of Railways, Coal & Mine said that this train will fulfill the cherished goal of enabling the people of Manipur to travel through railways to the rest of country.

TRAINS SCHEDULE

Train no 05659 will start from Silchar on every Monday and Thursday at 07-00 AM to reach Jiribam at 08-55 AM. During return journey train no 05660 will start from Jiribam at 01-30 PM to reach Silchar at 03-30 PM.

The train will have 8(eight) General class compartments and 2(two) luggage cum guard vans. The train will stop at seven stations during its journey.

It may be mentioned here that the train service on this route was suspended w.e.f. from 07.06.2019 due low patronage and Covid 19 pandemic.
