Wow Drive: 40 women embark on car rally across Assam, Arunachal, Meghalaya

GUWAHATI-  A car rally called the ” Wow Drive ” (or “Women on Wheels Drive”), was flagged off by Assam Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi from Raj Bhavan here on Sunday. Around 40 brave and adventurous  women from different parts of the country participating in this rally on a 40,000-km journey through the three northeastern states of Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh.

The seven-day “Wow Drive” organized by Amazing Namaste Foundation marks the celebration of the ‘Amrit Mahotsav of Independence’. The National Commission for Women and the State Women’s Commissions of the respective states are supporting the event.

Appreciating the Amazing Namaste Foundation, the Governor said, “It is a great and innovative concept. I am happy that this unique event has been started from Guwahati with the blessings of Maa Kamakhya on the auspicious day of Bhogali Bihu to celebrate the elixir of independence.

I am sure all the participants will experience the warmth of the people of the North East and the unique culture of the region.

Speaking on the occasion, Atul Kulkarni, Chairman of Amazing Namaste Foundation, gave a brief overview of the activities of the Foundation. After the path-breaking success of the North East on Wheels (NEW) motorcycle campaign last year, the organization decided to organize this all-women event to highlight the changing landscape of the region.
