SVEEP Cell in a bid to ensure #novoterleftbehind and to promote and facilitate use of Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) and first time introduced Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) opened a mock polling station in Deputy Commissioner’s office premises.

Deputy Commissioner, Keerthi Jalli inaugurated the mock polling station on Friday in the presence of Additional Deputy Commissioner, EL Faihriem, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Ruth Lienthang, Circle Officer, Tridip Roy, Subdivisional Officer (Sadar), Prodip Timung and other officials.

Jalli requested all to come and cast their mock vote for voter awareness and familiarisation with voting machines. Quite a good number of people turned up to cast their mock votes ably assisted by election officials and technical experts.

She also took the opportunity to release the official voter awareness songs – one sung by Baul singers and the other by a local talent in Shyleti language. “The songs aim to inspire the voters of Hailakandi to vote in the upcoming general elections,” said Circle Officer cum Officer in-charge SVEEP Cell, Tridip Roy.

A number of programmes are being held under three LACs of Hailakandi, Katlicherra and Algapur falling under HP1 Karimganj (SC reserved) constituency to ensure 100 per cent participation of voters in the polling process.

Deputy Commissioner cum Returning Officer, Keerthi Jalli is particularly keen on motivating young voters and women voters of the district and she has been personally present at a number of activities under SVEEP programme in the last couple of days. Wherever she went, she delivered lectures on the importance of voting”, said SVEEP member, Shankar Choudhury.
