Mizoram: Chakma District BJP leader Dangu Hemanta Larma joins MNF

Kamalanagar: Chakma District Bharatiya Janata Party in Mizoram has suffered another major blow as one of its prominent leaders Dangu Hemanta Larma on Monday joined the ruling Mizo National Front (MNF )  at Kamalanagar, the headquarters of Chakma Autonomous District Council, after resigning from the Bharatiya Janata Party.

A short induction programme was held at the party’s office during which Mr Larma was accorded a rousing welcome in the presence of Dangu Rasik Mohan Chakma, CEM, CADC, councilors and party workers.

Larma, who had contested the CADC General election in 2018 on BJP ticket, in his joining letter stated that he decided to join the Mizo National Front after due observation and seeing the present Executive Committee in action in all spheres of positive development.

Addressing the gathering shortly after his induction, he said, “Today is a life changing day in my political life. The position of Chakma District BJP in the present context is akin to an army of lions being led by a sheep. When a party or an organization is led by a weak leadership, then there is no scope of progress, more so when the leader happens to be a habitual liar who deceives his own party men and the general public.”

“I have been deeply impressed and inspired by the plans, public welfare policies and vision, coupled with integrity of leadership and untiring positive work of all members irrespective of positions under the leadership of present Chief Executive Member Dangu Rasik Mohan Chakma, which has encouraged me to join the MNF party and the team in action”, he added.

A young and dynamic youth leader, Dangu Hemanta Larma has held various positions in the BJP from district to national level including the post of Convener, BJP for North East, Delhi; State Vice-President, Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), Mizoram, and District Head, Central Scheme Cell, Chakma District Bharatiya Janata Party.

It may be recalled that several prominent leaders of Chakma District BJP and their followers have been switching to the ruling MNF in recent times as a result of growing disillusionment with the party. Prominent among who have joined the MNF include Dangu Ranga Mohan Chakma, former president of CDBJP and BJP official candidates in CADC General Election 2018  Dangu Prema Ranjan Chakm, Dangu Kolembi Chakma and Dangu Sumoti Ranjan Chakma.
