Arunachal ‘Spiderman’ Seeks Justice for Angel Chakma
A social media activist popularly known as “Arunachal Spiderman” has demanded justice for Angel Chakma of Tripura, amplifying calls for an impartial investigation.

ITANAGAR/ AGARTALA- A social media activist Takam Todo, popularly known as “Arunachal Spiderman” has joined growing demands for justice in the case of Angel Chakma from Tripura, bringing national attention to the issue through viral videos and online campaigns.
The Takam, known for wearing a Spiderman costume while raising social and civic concerns across Arunachal Pradesh, released a series of videos and public statements calling for a fair, transparent and time-bound investigation into Angel Chakma’s death. His appeal has been widely shared across social media platforms, drawing reactions from users across the Northeast and beyond.
Angel Chakma’s case has triggered widespread concern in Tripura, with family members, students’ organisations and civil society groups questioning the circumstances surrounding her death and alleging lapses in the investigation. Calls for accountability and an independent probe have intensified over the past weeks.

In his statements, Takam framed the issue as one of justice and dignity rather than regional politics, emphasising that cases involving young women and marginalised communities require institutional sensitivity and transparency. He urged authorities to ensure that “truth is not buried under procedural delays or official silence.”
The intervention reflects the growing role of informal digital activism in the Northeast, where social media influencers and grassroots campaigners increasingly shape public discourse on governance and human rights. While not affiliated with any political organisation, the activist has previously drawn attention to issues such as road safety, public accountability and environmental protection.

Reactions to his campaign have been mixed. Supporters argue that such visibility helps prevent cases from fading from public memory, while critics caution against trial-by-social-media and stress the need for due process. Law enforcement authorities in Tripura have so far maintained that investigations are ongoing, though no fresh official response has been issued following the latest wave of online activism.
Observers note that the episode underscores how regional boundaries are becoming less relevant in rights-based campaigns, with activists from different states expressing solidarity through digital platforms. For Angel Chakma’s family and supporters, the renewed attention has offered some reassurance that the demand for justice continues to resonate beyond Tripura.
