Assam: 17 Assamese workers allegedly detained by Arunachal Pradesh Construction Company

GUWAHATI- On 29th August, The All Adivasi Students Association of Assam (AASAA) claimed that 17 workers of Assam have been forcefully ‘detained’ by a road construction company in Arunachal Pradesh since August 16.
Family members of the 17 detained workers also filed Complaints at the Demow police station on Aug 28, 2021.
Talking to Northeasrindia24 , Deben Orang, Gen Sec of AASAA has alleged that these 17 workers went to Arunachal Pradesh under two contractors identified as Nitul Sarma and Manab Tanti from Moran who also have been detained by the company.
AASAA has also claimed that the workers are being physically harassed and threatened by the authorities of the company not to leave the project mid-way, Orang informed.
Meanwhile, The student body has requested the Sivasagar administration and the Superintendent of Sivasagar Police, to immediately intervene in the matter and take necessary steps to rescue the workers.
