 Assam: ADG NCC NE Region meet CM Sonowal

The ADG apprised the CM about first ever Brahmaputra Sailing expedition and accorded invitation to CM as the chief guest for the Flagging In Ceremony on 26 Oct 2019.

Maj Gen Bipin Bakshi,  ADG, NCC NER Directorate interacted with Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal,  on 27 Aug 2019. During his interaction he discussed various aspects to include raising of new Bn at Kokrajhar/Bongaigaon, enhanced Incentives for NCC Cadets and a Sailing expedition on River Brahmaputra.

The ADG apprised the CM about first ever Brahmaputra Sailing expedition and accorded invitation to CM as the chief guest for the Flagging In Ceremony on 26 Oct 2019.

The sailing expedition planned is the 1st sailing expedition that has ever been conceived on the mighty Brahmaputra. A group of 80 NCC cadets under the guidance of ADG, Maj Gen Bakshi an experienced sailor himself, have set for themselves the lofty target of taming this mighty river in 3 sailing boats.

They will cover about 200 km stretch from Tezpur to Guwahati.  The CM was also briefed about the expansion plans of NCC and regarding the new set of awards,  extending existing Bir Chalarai awards to more number of cdts , units .

The CM citing his personal experiences as a NCC cadet,  brought out the rigorous training he received while as a cadet which certainly has gone a long way to shape his stature.

The CM also highlighted on the need for a purposeful training regime for the cadets to enable them to build up their mental and physical capabilities.

The CM assured the Gen Officer that all assistance will be accorded by the state to bring up the ethos of NCC in Assam.
