Assam: Creating awareness among women voters on International Women’s Day in Hailakandi
The Hailakandi district administration is on a poll preparedness for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Coinciding with the International Women’s Day, the Hailakandi district administration headed by Deputy Commissioner Keerthi Jalli spearheaded the campaign among the women voters and urged them to cast their votes in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Jalli along with Circle Officer, Hailakandi, Tridip Roy gave mock demonstration on EVMs and VVPATs and motivated the women voters of the district to come out in large numbers to exercise their franchise in the impending general elections to further strengthen the edifice of democracy. She said every woman must pledge to vote for it is her democratic right.
The district administration is focused on enhancing the percentage of voting in areas that recorded low turnouts during the last Assembly elections and is carrying out awareness campaigns in model polling stations and other places across the district.
Chunav pathsala and awareness on EVMs and VVPATs among the women voters of the district was organised by anganwadi workers of Hailakandi CDPO project on the occasion of International Women’s Day celebrations at Serispore.
Mock polling was also held in Women’s College, where college going students cast their vote for the first time ever.
Voter awareness meetings for people with disabilities (PwDs) are also being organized under Algapur, Katlicherra and Hailakandi LACs.
Under Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP), the administration has decided to put up hoardings on election education, interpersonal communication, conducting media sensitisation programmes, staging street plays, organising quiz and painting competitions among students.
