Assam: Cyclonic storm lashes Hailakandi town and suburbs

Hailakandi town of Assam and its suburbs were battered by cyclonic storm with heavy rains last night. The storm fury and rain has left a trail of destruction, causing damages in parts of Hailakandi town, uprooting trees and electric poles cutting power. However, there was no report of any death.
Social media users are reporting gusty winds, torrential rains, and damage to property. Scores of households were left without power and toppling trees impeding traffic flow.
Though restoration work by APDCL is under way, it is hampered by continuous rain.
