Assam: DACYP approves youth-centric programmes for Hailakandi district

A slew of youth initiative programmes will be taken up in the current financial year in Hailakandi district of Assam.

Chairing a meeting of the District Advisory Committee on Youth Programme (DACYP) at his office conference hall here on Thursday, Deputy Commissioner Adil Khan discussed in detail with the Member Secretary and members of DACYP about the Annual Action Plan 2018-19 and implementation of the youth-centric programmes during the current financial year.

Heaping encomiums on the host of activities initiated by Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS), Hailakandi, Khan said he would like to see the organization working in sync with various government departments through coordinated programmes. Khan asked the organization to pinpoint the areas of activities in which it can work in tandem with other departments in empowering youth of the district and assured to facilitate the same.

Member Secretary and District Youth Coordinator, NYKS, Sekhar Ranjan Deb made power point presentation on last year’s activities and gave an outline on the new initiatives for the current year. Deb sought the cooperation of the chairman and members for implementation of the youth-centric programmes as per the time schedule. After threadbare discussion, the committee approved the youth oriented programmes for the current fiscal.

Speaking on the occasion, eminent scientist of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Dr. Sheikh Md. Azizur Rahman said KVK have had associated with several skill upgradation training programmes with NYKS and some of them have been quite successful. Dr. Rahman, however, suggested for proper selection of candidates for induction into the skill training programmes, ‘as most of the trained youth look out for greener pastures vis-a-vis white-collar jobs than becoming self independent by setting up their own units’.

The meeting discussed about preparation of a data base of NGOs of the district.

CEO, Zilla Parishad, NKSK Singha, District Sports Officer, Jimli Borah, Joydeep Nath and Masuk Ahmed were present on the occasion.
