Hailakandi district administration, Assam has asked people to remain alert and vigil against spread of rumours and fake news circulated in social media over the past few days

Following spread of rumours and fake news circulated purportedly by certain organisations and elements in social media over the past few days leading to tensions in different parts of the State, the Hailakandi district administration has asked people to remain alert and vigil against such forces hell bent on creating disturbance in the society.
Deputy Commissioner, Adil Khan has appealed to the people not to be swayed by rumours and misinformation campaign by certain elements. Khan sought the cooperation of all, including the media to quell such misinformation propaganda and to maintain peace and tranquility across the district.
Khan said the administration will not spare anyone found unleashing misinformation to create law and order problem.
The Deputy Commissioner asked the people to report any incident to the nearest police station immediately.
However, there has been no report of any such incidents in the district so far. However, the district administration is taking no chances and keeping a close tab on the social media.
