Assam: Mitali Gogoi’s ‘Suriya Mon’ Unveiled

Mitali Gogoi’s compilation of songs, ‘Suriya Mon’, published by Pride Assam Publications, was launched at Sonari Jatiya Vidyalaya’s Silver Jubilee finale.

CHARAIDEO ( ASSAM )  ( By—Prantik Deka )   ‘Suriya Mon’, a compilation of songs authored by Mitali Gogoi and published by Pride Assam Publications, was formally unveiled during the concluding ceremony of the Silver Jubilee celebration of Sonari Jatiya Vidyalaya in Charaideo district. The launch gathered prominent figures from the region’s cultural and academic circles.

The event was attended by Education Secretary of Jatiya Vidyalaya Jogananda Bora, along with respected personalities including Sunil Dutta, Rati Prabha Gogoi, Juri Devi Phukan, Bani Changmai, Naren Rajkhowa, Nirmal Saikia, Bimal Phukan, and others who have contributed to literature, music, and community initiatives in Assam.

The book was officially released by noted singer and cultural activist Bani Changmai, who praised the depth and lyrical quality of the compilation. “I was deeply moved upon reading the songbook Suriya Mon. The lyrics are exceptional. Mitali’s songs will remain our testament. May she continue to write,” he said, extending his best wishes to the author.

Rati Prabha Gogoi, former President of Lekhika Sangstha, Assam, and former Principal of Sonari College, described the work as the result of sustained creative dedication. She noted that Suriya Mon covers a wide range of themes rooted in Assamese society: children, women, ethnic diversity, cultural traditions, beliefs, scientific progress, social harmony, and the vision of a sustainable planet. She emphasised that the author’s aspirations for a vibrant and knowledgeable society are clearly reflected in the book.

Pride Assam Publications, in a statement, highlighted that each song in the anthology captures the emotional journey of the author. The publisher described the work as “a reflection of vibrant experiences, profound emotions, and memories that shape the human heart,” acknowledging its sincerity and expressive depth. They expressed confidence that the book would resonate with readers and encourage the author to further pursue writing and musical creation.

The launch of Suriya Mon marks a new milestone in regional literature, offering a thoughtful blend of poetic expression and cultural reflection. The organisers expressed hope that the book will find a meaningful place among readers and supporters of Assamese artistic traditions.
