The operation was conducted between Railway Kilometer No. 8/0 to 10/0 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

GUWAHATI- In a significant move to reclaim railway land and ensure the safety and integrity of its infrastructure, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) carried out a coordinated eviction drive on the stretch between Kamakhya and Guwahati railway stations. The operation was conducted between Railway Kilometer No. 8/0 to 10/0 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
The drive targeted unauthorized encroachments and resulted in the demolition of 29 illegally constructed soft structures. The action was carried out peacefully and without incident, thanks to the joint efforts of multiple agencies.
A total of 10 personnel from the Railway Protection Force (RPF), 7 from the Government Railway Police (GRP), 6 police personnel from Panbazar and Fancy Bazar police stations, and 20 staff members from the SSE/P.Way department participated in the operation.
NFR officials stated that the drive was part of ongoing efforts to maintain cleanliness, operational efficiency, and passenger safety on railway premises. “We appreciate the swift and coordinated action taken by all the teams involved. Such initiatives are vital for the development and maintenance of critical railway infrastructure,” said a senior railway official.
To prevent future encroachments, the NFR is also conducting awareness campaigns, deploying surveillance patrols, and implementing strict enforcement protocols. The railway authorities have urged the public to cooperate and report any unauthorized occupation of railway land.
NFR reiterated its commitment to protecting public assets and supporting future infrastructure development through such proactive measures.
