NEW DELHI- In a significant move towards fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in the Northeast region, Dr. Jitendra Singh, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for the Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India, inaugurated the Inclusive Technology Business Incubator (iTBI) at Assam Down Town University (AdtU) during the National Science Day celebrations held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, on Friday.
The inauguration event was graced by prominent figures, including Prof. N.C. Talukdar, Vice Chancellor of AdtU, Prof. Sunandan Baruah, DEng, Director of the Department of Information Science and Engineering (DISA) at AdtU, and representatives from the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India.

This milestone marks a pivotal moment in AdtU’s journey to drive innovation and support entrepreneurship in the region. As part of the initiative, AdtU has been sanctioned ₹4.73 crores under the iTBI project by DST, which will provide critical support for technology startups, particularly in the Healthcare and Information & Communication Technology (ICT) domains.
The iTBI initiative is aimed at empowering startups, researchers, and innovators by offering them incubation and infrastructure support, fostering a thriving ecosystem for technology-driven growth and development in the Northeast. This move is expected to serve as a catalyst for impactful innovations and help build a robust startup ecosystem in the region.
With the support of DST and other stakeholders, AdtU looks forward to strengthening the innovation landscape and offering the necessary resources for tech startups to grow and thrive.
