Manipur Police conducts search operations, recovered Arms, ammunition

IMPHAL: A combined team of security forces on Tuesday conducted search operations and recovered Arms and ammunition from Keithelmanbi area and Aithu Kuki Village in Kangpokpi district.
During the search operation, five single bore rifles, four country made weapons, thirty-six single bore live rounds, a walkie talkie along with charger and eight mobile phones were recovered and seized from the Aithu Village.

Police sources said there was no arrest as the accused had escaped before arrival of the combined teams. All the Seized items were handed over to New Keithelmanbi police station for further necessary legal action, it said.
It is reported that Patsoi police station, Imphal West Commando Officials, New Keithelmanbi police station, Kangpokpi District along with Teams of 33-Assam Rifles, Keithelmanbi (9-Sector) were part of the search operation.

In an another development, the Manipur Police has registered an FIR against the Assam Rifles, accusing them of stopping their vehicle following a brawl between two groups last week.
At the same time, Army sources termed this FIR as a travesty of justice and said that As Rifles was following the instructions given by the Command Headquarters to ensure the sanctity of the buffer zone between Kuki and Meitei areas.
