On Tuesday, April 7, an Assam Police team reached Khera’s residence in Nizamuddin, New Delhi. While Khera was not present, police reportedly seized electronic devices and “incriminating documents”.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma alleged that Khera “fled” from Delhi to Hyderabad to evade arrest. Khera is currently reported to be at his residence in Hyderabad, where local police protection has been provided.

This legal showdown occurs at a critical juncture, just one day before the Assam Assembly elections scheduled for April 9, 2026. The Chief Minister has dismissed the allegations as “AI-generated fakes” and a “Pakistan-linked smear campaign”.
