PM Modi arrives in Assam on 2-day visit; to inaugurate projects worth Rs18,000 cr

PM Modi will be the first prime minister to spend the night at the Assam Police Guest House at Kohra in Kaziranga.

GUWAHATI-  Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Assam for a two-day visit. He will stay at Kaziranga National Park, and inaugurate and lay the foundation of projects worth Rs 18,000 crore.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal received Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Kohra Helipad in Kaziranga.

PM Modi will be the first prime minister to spend the night at the Assam Police Guest House at Kohra in Kaziranga. This comes after President Droupadi Murmu’s Kaziranga visit last year and former President Ram Nath Kovind in 2022.

On Thursday Assam’s Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that PM Modi is the only prime minister who visited maximum times to Assam.

During his stay, the Prime Minister will also Visit to Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve. He will also take a ride of jungle safari within the Kohora range of the park. Both a Jeep safari and an elephant safari have been planned in his 2-day itinerary.

The Assam CM yesterday said that PM Modi will inaugurate the Tinsukia Medical College and lay the foundation stone of Sivasagar Medical College under the PM-DIVINE scheme on Saturday.

“PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for the expansion of Digboi Refinery from 0.65 Million MT to 1 Million MT with a cost of Rs 768 crores.

PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone of the expansion of Guwahati Refinery from 1 million MT to 1.2 million MT with a cost of Rs 510 crore.

PM Modi will inaugurate the project with a cost of Rs 3,992 crores project of pipeline from Barauni to Guwahati…” he added.

PM Modi will also address a rally at Meleng Meteli and inaugurate several projects of both centre and state government, he said.

In addition, PM Modi would perform the ‘Griha Pravesh’ (house-warming) ceremony for the 5.5 lakh houses built under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), lay the foundation stone of Sivasagar Medical College, and address a public gathering at Meleng Meteli Pothar in Jorhat.
