Shillong- BSF Organises National Unity Day

To mark the Birth Anniversary of Sarder Vallabhbhai Patel as National Unity Day, the Border Security Force ( BSF ) organised a series events at Frontier HeadquaRter Umpling, Sector headquaRter Mawpat and Dobasipara as well as other location of BSF battalion in Meghalaya.
The day started with the conduct of “5 kms Run for unity” followed by Parade/March past by sentinels of border. All the troops on duty also took pledge to work for the unity of the nation. A voluntary blood donation camp was organised at composite Hospital, BSF campus, Umpling, Shillong in collaboration with Blood Bank department NEIGRIHMS, Shillong.
BSF personnel were celebrating with fervour the occasion of `National Unity Day” to foster and reinforce the dedication to preserve and strengthen unity, integrity and security of the nation. During this camp, 59 Sentinels of Border donated blood voluntarily.
During this occasion at Mawpat(Shillong), Dr Sabu A Joseph, DIG/PSO(Officiating Inspector General) addressed the troops about life and vision of Sardar Patel.
BSF Senior Secondary School, Shillong also conducted various programmes on National Integration including Essay Competition, Elocution Competition, Quiz Competition and a March Past also conducted by school children for `National Unity’. Dr. Sabu A Joseph and other senior BSF Officers of Frontier Headquarter BSF Meghalaya addressed the students of BSF Senior Secondary School.
The Border Security Force, not only serving at border in extreme hard conditions but also putting every efforts to preserve and strengthen the unity, integrity and security of our nation. In the past also BSF has been conducting various Blood donation, free medical camps, civic action programme for the border population.
