GUWAHTI – The investigation into the tragic death of Assam’s cultural icon Zubeen Garg has entered a new phase, with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Friday serving notices to all witnesses and individuals with knowledge of the events in Singapore that led to the singer’s demise.
A senior CID official confirmed that these persons have been directed to appear before investigators within 10 days to record their statements. The Special Investigation Team (SIT), which is probing the case, also continued its searches for the second consecutive day at the residence of event organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta in Guwahati’s Geetanagar locality.

“Investigation into Garg’s death is continuing. Today, we served notices to all persons familiar with the incidents leading to his death. They have to come and give their statements within 10 days,” the officer said.
In a parallel development, the All Assam Lawyers’ Association made a dramatic declaration: no lawyer in Assam will defend the accused in the Zubeen Garg case.

In a resolution announced Friday, the association urged members across the state to abstain from representing those named in the case. Leaders of the association described the move as both a mark of respect to the late artiste and a collective effort to ensure justice remains uncompromised.
The resolution also appealed to the wider legal fraternity to stand united with the sentiments of the Assamese public, who continue to demand a fair, transparent, and timely probe into the singer’s untimely demise.
