Tripura- woman beaten up in broad day light

A tribal woman was beaten up in broad day light in Hazrapara market of Kakrachera under Mongiakami police station in Khowai district of Tripura. The victim lady has been identified as Jamati Reang wife of Jotila Reang.
The incident took place on 17 July. Since last 23 days the victim is under treatment and recently referred to Teliamura hospital.
The attack was reportedly organised by one Dasarath Reang, known CPIM leader and Ex Village committee member along with Lab Kumar Reang and Charani Reang over removing the victim who was engaged as mid day meal helper in the Hazra para Senior Basic school.
A Case has been filed in the Mongiakami PS but reportedly initially police suggested the victim to withdraw the complain and sort out the matter at the village level.
Mean time as the victim woman had to be admitted in the Teliamura hospital as there is no sigh of improvement of her health condition.
When the video has become viral in the social media and as the report was telecasted in Times24, a local cable TV news channel, National Women’s Commission Member Sushma Sahu took the issue seriously and reportedly put pressure on police demanding arrest of the culprit and ultimately last evening one person has been arrested.
