Assam: Aaranyak’s ‘Van Sobi 2.0’ Nature & Wildlife Photography Exhibition Draws Big Crowd in Nagaon

NAGAON– “Van Sobi 2.0”, the second leg of a statewide Nature and Wildlife Photography Exhibition by Aaranyak, a biodiversity conservation NGO, concluded at Pranab Baruah Kalakshetra, Nagaon, drawing praise and participation from nature lovers, artists, and young photographers alike.

Organised in collaboration with Kallol, a cultural organization rooted in arts and literature, the exhibition marks 35 years of Aaranyak’s conservation journey.

The inaugural ceremony was graced by MLA Mr. Rupak Sarmah (Nagaon-Batardava) and Nagaon DC Mr. Devasish Sarma, who praised the event’s relevance in a time of environmental urgency.

“Nature photography brings people emotionally closer to the environment. It’s a powerful tool for awareness,” said DC Devasish Sarma.

MLA Rupak Sarmah emphasized the need for balance between development and ecology, lauding Aaranyak and Kallol for inspiring local communities.

The event featured over 45 powerful images by 31 photographers from across India and included a panel discussion on photography’s role in conservation, featuring eminent personalities like filmmaker Arup Manna, critic Arindam Borkataki, and Dr. Smarajit Ojha. Wildlife photographer Udayan Borthakur led a technical session on the synergy between art, technology, and conservation storytelling.

The event concluded on August 3 with an informal adda titled “Looking at Nature Through the Lens”, blending creativity and conservation dialogue.

With enthusiastic footfall and engaged discussions, Van Sobi 2.0 proved to be not just an exhibition, but a call to action for environmental awareness through the power of the lens.
