Assam CM Flags off Uberization Schem of ASTC

The purpose of this scheme is to boost public  transport system across the state.

GUWAHATI-   Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Friday Flagged off “Uberization Schem” of Assam State Transport  Corporation ( ASTC ). The purpose of this scheme is to boost public  transport system across the state.

Uberization scheme is a beneficiary-oriented scheme of Govt. of Assam, implemented by Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC), where any residents of Assam who is creditworthy to get a loan from the bank for purchase of bus is eligible to apply.

The selected beneficiary will be given up to 25% of the total cost of purchased bus; partly as subsidy and partly as interest free loan. The beneficiary must contribute minimum 10% of value of the bus and remaining 65% of the value to be arranged through financers. The Buses will be operated under ASTC as per POB rules.

To address the scheme, Govt. of Assam has sanctioned 339 buses and total fund of 25 Crores. Out of the total Buses sanctioned, there are 100 Super Bus, 105 Short Distance Buses, 89 City Buses, 1 City bus for other cities, 12 Buses for Tea Garden Area, 5 Buses for Developing Area, 11 Buses for BTAD Area and 16 Semi Deluxe Buses. The Uberization Scheme shall meet the ever-rising demand for public transport and thereby strengthening the state public transport sector as a whole.
