Assam: Gajraj Corps Celebrates Kargil Vijay Diwas at Tezpur
Kargil Vijay Diwas is celebrated every year on Jul 26 to commemorate India’s resounding victory over Pakistan in Operation Vijay 1999.

The Army today celebrates Kargil Vijay Diwas and paid tributes to the soldiers who laid down their lives in the 1999 Kargil conflict. In a solemn ceremony held at Tezpur based Gajraj Corps, Lt Gen Manoj Pande, AVSM, VSM, General Officer Commanding laid a wreath at the Gajraj War Memorial.
Other then Army officers, number of war veterans, civil dignitaries including District Commissioner, DIG Police, Vice Chancellor, Tezpur University, Principal & Dean Tezpur Medical College etc were present and paid their tributes to the fallen heroes.

The Kargil war is regarded as a testimony of the Indian Army’s grit and determination, in which the soldiers exhibited dauntless courage, resilience, valour and fought against all odds in inhumane temperatures of the high altitude mountains in Kargil.
Indian Army evicted the entrenched infiltrators from the icy heights and ensured a convincing victory for the country.
On the occasion, Lt Gen Manoj Pande highlighted the role of the gallant soldiers of the Indian Army in achieving the decisive victory at Kargil and urged the troops to always be ready to face any challenges that the adversary may pose with grit, determination and valour and emulate our war veterans and martyrs who had brought glory to the country and the Army.
Similar events were also organised in other military locations such as Rangiya, Missamari and Tenga wherein, pipe band and equipment display were also organised.
