Joint Director of Health and Family Welfare of Dhemaji district has been arrested by anti corruption cell of Assam police while he was accepting bribe.

the Joint Director Health and Family welfare, Dhemaji , Dr Abdul Latif, has been caught red handed by team of anti corruption cell of Assam police from his office at Dhemaji while accepting a bribe of Rs. 12,000/- from a contractor Mridul Sarma for clearing of his bill, due to the complainant for his supply of hired vehicle to the office concerned.
A press release issued from CPRO, Assam Police, said that ” the accused officer had demanded a bribe of Rs. 18000 (10 pc of the bill amount of Rs. 1.83 lacs) from the contractor. The contractor had informed the anti corruption cell of Assam about the Joint Director’s bribe demand to him.
On Monday the team of the anti corruption cell laid a trap and caught red handed the Joint Director of HFW, Dhemaji.
Thus, complainant Mridul Sarmah had approached the ACB PS with FIR. Accordingly a case was registered vide ACB PS Case No. 20/2018 u/s 7(a)/ 13 (2) rw sec 13(1)(b) of PC Act, as amended in 2018.
Meanwhile , the arrested person will be produced before the Special Court at Guwahati tomorrow, mentioned in the press release.
